Cold Chisel is an Australian rock band formed 1973 in Adelaide by core members Jimmy Barnes (vocals), Ian Moss (guitar and vocals), Steve Prestwich (drums) and Don Walker (keyboards). Coming out of the tough Adelaide suburban music scene they rose to become one of Australia's most popular and successful bands. Their breakthrough came with the iconic single "Khe Sanh" from their debut album, which became a perennial signature tune. The band's sound is characterised by Barnes' strong vocals and Moss's choppy guitar over a trademark rhythm section which was more R&B styled than traditional rock. Don Walker provided most of the songwriting credits. The band has received every Australian music award and accolade and has been the subject of a major tribute film. Outstanding albums include Breakfast at Sweethearts, East, Circus Animals and the live recording Swingshift. Barnes, Walker and Moss have also released numerous solo works.
