Connan Tant Hosford, aka Connan Mockasin, is a New Zealand musician, composer and record producer born 1983 in Te Awanga, New Zealand. He has spent the last 10 years living between London, Lewes, Manchester and Los Angeles, and now resides in Tokyo. Hosford moved from NZ to London in 2006 with his band The Mockasins, named after Hosford's interest in making his own shoes. His first album Please Turn me Into the Snat, released 2010 was actually material he had recorded at home in NZ years earlier. The follow up 2011's Forever Dolphin Love was a re-release of the earlier album with some additional live material. In 2013 Hosford toured with Charlotte Gainsbourg, then Radiohead, and released his third album Caramel, which was recorded in a hotel room in Tokyo. To-date, his latest album is Jassbusters, released 2018. Hosford's psychedelic soft-rock music style has been described as "meandering", "blissful", effortless" and "mesmerising". Hosford also collaborates with Samuel Eastgate aka LA Priest, in the duo Soft Hair. Forever Dolphin Love is an outstanding album.
